Julie Marques, Club Pilates Master Trainer is a trained movement professional with over 29 years experience in teaching Pilates, dance and Somatic Movement. She has extensive training as a Certified Pilates and dance trainer as well as a background in Eastern medicine and nutrition. Julie loves to work with individuals and groups of all ages to inspire a lifelong lifestyle centered in movement. With Julie’s training you will develop core strength with an ease of movement along with a deeper understanding of how Pilates exercises connect to everyday foundations of health and happiness. Julie first became Balanced Body Pilates Mat Certified and began teaching Pilates in 2005. She continued a year long Pilates apprenticeship with Mercy Sidbury after which she became fully Certified in Stott Pilates. Julie is certified in Balanced Body CoreAlign, Above Barre, TRX, Triggerpoint, Ayurveda and massage therapy. In addition to a full time pilates teaching career, Julie works as a Certified Laban Bartenieff Movement Analyst teaching dance and performance to youth and teens. Julie has been a Master Pilates Trainer through Club Pilates in the Bay Area since 2020. She enjoys sharing her passion for teaching movement and Pilates with others!
Julie grew up in a Caribbean American household, with her extended family at the center of all activities. With a strong, faith based family surrounding her, Julie developed a sensitivity toward spiritual life and learned to grow genuine, personal connections through movement awareness practices and meditation training. She travelled throughout the world in her early twenties and obtained her BA in Nepal, with her studies focused on dance and healing. She spent her early twenties living in Indigenous farming communities later to join communities and develop healing centers in California. She created Healing Traditions blending her Ayurvedic studies with movement programs. She is founder of move 2 Change, a culmination of her studies and teaching dance, Pilates, Yoga and Somatic practices which shaped her life and created the foundation to her approach toward a movement based lifestyle. Julie is Stott and NCPC Certified as well as a Master Trainer for Club Pilates. She works with clients individually in groups to help them reach their full capacity as movers and educators. She considers herself a facilitator of experiences through self awareness movement practices that lead to increased connection, ease and self love.
