Karen Burgue
Instructor
Karen found her love for fitness and dance at the age of 4 when she began taking ballet lessons. She loved the discipline of dance and how it helped her, as a young adult, keep her body strong and in shape. In the years to follow Karen incorporated exercise into her daily life. She enjoyed aerobics, weight training, road biking and running.
In 1977 Karen moved from the Chicago area to the Tampa Bay area and completed a science degree in Dental Hygiene at St. Petersburg College. Because of her love for fitness and keeping the body healthy, she also pursued a license in massage therapy. Karen received a certificate from The Humanities Center school of massage in Pinellas Park Florida and her LMT license from the State of Florida in 1989.
Karen's love for Pilates began at the age of 50. She felt her body getting older, but still wanting to stay healthy and in shape, she started looking for something that would keep her strong as she got older. Because of her love for dance she had heard about Pilates and after her first class she was hooked. Her personal Pilates instructor began working for Club Pilates in 2017 and Karen began taking classes at Club Pilates in Trinity. She loved Club Pilates concept and the fact that they were bringing Pilates to the masses at an affordable price. Because of her medical back round and with encouragement from her instructor, Karen decided to take the Club Pilates teacher training course in 2019. She received her Teacher Training diploma in 2020 and has worked at Club Pilates Trinity and Westchase ever since.
When Karen is not practicing dental hygiene or teaching Pilates she loves cooking, reading, the beach and ebiking with her husband of 36 years Rudy. She has one son, an awesome daughter in law and 3 beautiful granddaughters who live in Nashville, TN. She resides with her husband in Palm Harbor, Florida.
