Sharon Riser
Pilates Instructor
In 2021, after decades of working with personal trainers, living an active lifestyle, and focusing on her health and overall fitness, Sharon Riser found a new passion in Pilates.
After seeing the mental and physical health results from her participation in Pilates several times a week, Sharon knew that this career path would allow her to share, teach and mentor others by tapping into her existing passion for education and wellness.
In 2022 she enrolled in the Club Pilates Teacher Certification Program, completing the 500-Hour Program within seven months with Pilates at Club Pilates in 2021. In addition to this certification, Sharon has traveled extensively for "wellness trips," focusing on participating and studying in other Pilates and wellness courses at some of the country's top spas and fitness destinations. Some of the highlights of these trips include Mirval in upstate New York and Canyon Ranch at their various locations. To round out her experiences, Sharon has completed and certified in multiple workshops with John Garey Pilates, Grad School for Springboard, and Reformer for Fitness.
When Sharon is not teaching in the Pilates Studio, she is co-CEO of THE TEMPLE Annapolis and THE TEMPLE Frederick, which she co-founded with her husband in 2005. Their schools have graduated thousands of professional beauty, spa, and wellness students. She balances her career paths by actively volunteering at all community levels: from local to global. Sharon is the past President of the Frederick County Woman's Giving Circle, a long-time Rotarian, and a current Board member and Event Coordinator for the Ebeauty Wig Program, aiding in gifting women free wigs and make-overs through various cancer centers all over the United States. In addition, Sharon has traveled to Eswatini to support and build clean freshwater wells and actively participates in beautification projects with Downtown Frederick Partnership. Over the years, her company has donated over ten thousand haircuts for various non-profit organizations, while her schools, with the help of her teams and students, have raised over 1.2 million dollars in total donations to over one hundred various non-profits over the last two decades.
This winning combination of passionate, wellness-driven leadership has allowed Sharon to be awarded the Paul Harris Award for Community, the 40 Under 40 for Maryland's most "influential" women, the WISE Award, honoring the 100 most "influential" women in the professional beauty industry, and along with her husband, the Frederick County "Do Gooder" Award and being named Top Entrepreneur of Frederick County.
Sharon looks to extend her passion for giving thru her Pilates Teaching and not just donating the gift of Beauty yet the gift of wellness to others with her Pilates Career. She teaches at the South Germantown and Frederick Club Pilates locations.
