Colleen D
Lead Instructor
Colleen D. has been a dedicated student of Pilates for over 24 years. She has been instructing at the Shelby Township location since they opened in 2019 and is the Lead Instructor for both the Shelby and Grosse Pointe studios.
In 2011, soon after having her 2nd child, Colleen was introduced to Reformer Pilates as a way to recover core-strength and rehabilitate from pregnancy and surgery. It immediately became her favorite form of exercise and she saw for herself that Pilates truly can be for every ‘body’.
Beginning in 2017, she decided to deepen her understanding of Pilates so that she could share it with others. Colleen completed both her Comprehensive and Advanced certifications through Peak Pilates. She has taught in both classical as well as contemporary style studios, which is an important reason behind why she established a connection to Club Pilates - for their commitment to offer integrative and authentic Pilates in a welcoming environment.
As an instructor, she is committed to teaching students the ‘why’ behind each exercise so students understand how Pilates integrates the body’s movements in response to body awareness.
Outside of the studio, Colleen received her bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University followed by her law degree from University of Detroit Mercy. She’s a busy mom of three boys and enjoys staying active with each of them. A lover of the outdoors, live music and finding the humor in life with the help of friends and family, she is committed to providing a warm and welcoming environment both inside and outside of Club Pilates!
