Kenda

Certified Instructor
Kenda's journey with Pilates began in 1979 as a young gymnast and dancer on the East Coast, where she studied Contrology under her dance teacher, Miss Sherry. A former Broadway performer, Miss Sherry was a client at The Studio and, like many dancers in New York City during the 1960s and 1970s, had trained under Joseph and Clara Pilates. In the early 1980s, Kenda began teaching gymnastics, incorporating Contrology, even before she could drive, working with Miss Sherry, the YMCA, and local Parks & Recreation programs. Over the years, Kenda expanded her expertise, becoming a certified group fitness instructor across various disciplines, including Step, Cardio Sculpt, Floor, Plyometrics, and several Les Mills programs. She continues to teach at Club Pilates Queen Anne as well as other studios, always seeking opportunities to further her education. Recently, she completed the HALO certification, adding to her extensive list of specialties, which includes essential, intermediate, and advanced Reformer; Mat; Cadillac; Chair; Ladder Barrel; Arch Barrel; Spine Corrector; Bosu; TRX; Plyometrics; Yamuna; and programs for injuries and special populations. Kenda’s comprehensive training in Pilates includes completing the rigorous STOTT Comprehensive Program, an in-depth, hands-on course spanning four months. This experience paved the way for her roles as an apprentice and teaching assistant at Body Center Studio, where she continues to develop her skills and passion for teaching.
