Pilates Instructor
A life long native of Washington with a grown son who now lives out of state (sigh) I’ve been happily obsessed with soccer since 1976, and I still attempt to play, but… as I inch closer to that knee replacement, pilates has taken a larger role in my life. I came to pilates (mat and springboard) after a serious roll-over car accident and quickly learned that the benefits of pilates are far-reaching—it’s like physical therapy for body and mind. It can be a stand-alone practice but it also serves as a complement to many sports, and is an incredible asset for active aging. When my local Club Pilates opened and I got to use the reformer, chair, and TRX, I felt like the world had just opened up for me and entered into teacher training through Club Pilates at my first opportunity. I have been teaching since 2020, and am keeping myself busy in my ‘spare’ time continuing to add to my teaching toolbox: I recently completed Barre Vida and Barre Above with Pilates Focus trainings and am now geeking out studying anatomy. Thanks to the shift to online classes I’ve been lucky enough to take a classical mat class every week with second generation teacher Ana Caban, further expanding my knowledge base. All of this is a long way of saying that I LOVE sharing the benefits of pilates with others! Our bodies all have different histories and abilities, and the ability of pilates to work for all of our bodies astounds me. My teaching style often wanders into smart-aleck territory, but I have a sincere belief that classes should be both functional and fun.
