Kim Cornwell

Instructor
Kim’s love of movement began at an early age in the dance studio. She danced through high school, was a member of her college dance company, and was head of the tap and jazz program at the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center. In 1993, she became a group fitness instructor and taught, step, interval, muscle endurance, and dance cardio classes. After teaching group ex for many years, she found mat Pilates and fell in love! She received her mat certification from the Pilates Certification Center in Raleigh, NC. Looking for something else in her life, but uncertain what that something else would be…Pilates found Kim. Sitting at the pool having a conversation with a friend, the friend suggested to get certified and work at her studio. “I had never been on a reformer before. I had never personally trained anyone. It was truly a leap of faith!” Kim received her comprehensive Pilates certification through Body Arts and Science International. She has attended workshops lead by one of Joseph Pilates’ elders, Lolita San Miguel as well as Brent Anderson, founder of Polestar Pilates, and Rael Isacowitz, founder of BASI Pilates. She taught in private studios and gyms, working with many different clients including ones with osteoporosis, scoliosis, and professional athletes. “What I love about Pilates is it changes my clients’ quality of life! I’ve heard clients say they are no longer in pain, they can get on the floor and play with their children/grandchildren. They can run faster. Their balance has improved. They have great abs! I’m thrilled Pilates is now in RVA….especially in Midlothian!!” When she’s not in the studio, Kim enjoys walking her two beagle pups, running, watching college basketball, snow skiing. Kim is a Club Pilates Pro! Her love of Pilates shows in her passion in her awesome classes.
