Sibel Uzun
Pilates Instructor
Sibel was born and raised in Turkey, moved to the United States in 2011, and joined the US Navy in 2015. Not having an active background, she struggled with her weight and physical fitness until she took a Club Pilates Intro class in 2021 at Libertyville, Chicago, where she was stationed as a Navy boot camp instructor. Even after consistent physical training in the military, fitness was not a lifestyle, so the more she did Pilates, the more it made sense, and she could experience the transformation firsthand. She began training under Yvonne Wendland, a third-generation Romana Kryzanowska-trained Master Trainer who taught her that strength doesn’t always equal correct muscle engagement and movement. She was comprehensively certified shortly after completing the Club Pilates Teacher Training program. Pilates not only transformed her body but also the way she understood movement and how it all connected to the mind. She went from someone struggling to keep up with physical training in the military to someone confident and active. She also used the movement and connection techniques she learned in Pilates in military training: performing drill divisions and helping them understand how small muscle engagement translates into a compound movement that is clean and sharp. Her love for teaching paired with Pilates allows her to connect with everyone on a personal level, and her mission is to push everyone beyond their limits and enable them to experience the transformation the way she did.
