Malu
Instructor
Malu has been passionate about the human body in motion, all through her life. She has studied
ballet, modern dance, and Graham technique. Limon, Laban, Fosse, Alexander, and Tharp are other
syllabus that she came in contact during her young years. Malu encountered Pilates in 1984 and yoga a
couple of years later. Now, she is certified in both. Malu has acquired a complete Teacher’s Training
Certification from Club Pilates as well as a completed certification from Balance Body and has continued
to study the practice of Pilates as often as she can, with any instructors from whom she can learn and
implement her knowledge. At the moment, Malu is working on finishing her degree in Fine Arts,
Department of Dance from the University of Calgary. When asked for advice from a young, future Pilates
instructor in training two years ago, this was her reply:
“I can talk lots about teaching Pilates, because is one of the syllabuses I love to teach. But I will be short
and to the point:
1. Never stop learning. If you became stale, your work loses its meaning.
2. Own what you know and know what you own.
3. Treat your students with respect, but demand respect back.
4. Be creative, but it is always important to not derail from what you are there to do: - The purpose of
what you are teaching. For whom you are teaching it. From how it is to be performed in order to achieve
the best results. What results are to be achieved.
5. Most of all, like what you do and have fun with it
Life is beautiful, but short! I love what I do!”
