Lisa McBride
Pilates Instructor
Lisa was introduced to Pilates at a young age as a compliment to her dance training. She began taking Mat classes in 1992 and by 1995, had discovered the additional benefits of training on the Apparatus. After just one session, she felt her alignment was drastically improved. She experienced an increased range of motion with greater ease as well as the ability to balance and turn for longer periods of time thanks to a better understanding of her center, or core, and how to use it to support the limbs in action. She was hooked and continued her training with Stephen Williams in NYC while earning her BFA in Dance at SUNY Purchase. Pilates helped her manage muscular imbalances from her mild scoliosis and remain free of injury throughout her dance career. In 2006, she decided to become certified at the Kane School of Core Integration. She completed her Mat certification that year and the Apparatus certification in 2008. Her experiences with movement continued to evolve and in 2011, she received her 200 Hour Vinyasa Yoga Certification from mang'Oh Yoga, subsequently serving as faculty for their Teacher Training. Since returning to the Capital Region in 2015, she has been teaching Pilates, dance, and yoga to all ages and abilities in a variety of settings including the School of the Albany Berkshire Ballet, CK Dance, and the Southern Saratoga YMCA. She is excited to grow her Pilates family at Club Pilates!
